Piute Indians The Paiutes, or Piutes (pronounced PIE-oot), included many different bands, spread glide by away over a vast region. They ar accept as some of the North American Indian tribes. The blue branch occupied district that is now north Nevada, south Oregon, southwestern Idaho, and northeastern California. The southern branch lived in territory now part of western Utah, southern Nevada, north Arizona, and southeasterly California.

The Northern and Southern Paiutes spoke varying di alects of the Uto-Aztecan vocabulary family, related to the Shosh wholeness dialect.
