What Type Of Career Is It Preparing You For - 1219 Words

The first question that I was presented was, â€Å"What type of career is it preparing you for?† That is really a hard question to answer properly. I have had many ideas of different careers that I have wanted to be in. Each career option I have thought about don’t really coincide with each other that much. When I was younger I thought of being a Paleontologist. Thanks to my reading of Jurassic Park and having the movie. I was only seven at the time but that is what I want to do. Later on I wanted to be a storm chaser. I still think that is a cool but crazy career option. However, I really didn’t want to deal with all the weather science and meteorological studies. Then once I was in junior high I started to learn more about computers and programming. I was not the top of my class but I was thinking way further ahead than my peers. In high school I was introduced to more advanced computer ideas but not too much in the programming side of things. As I learned about computers and as I honed my skills in art I thought about being a digital artist. However, what I wanted to do is become a video game designer. A lot of people that I knew said I was made for such a career. However, my charter school didn’t have anything dealing with digital arts. After graduation I went on my mission, loved most every minute of it, but a great experience none the less. After the mission I continued to go to school but at that point my family felt that my desire to be a game designer was not wellShow MoreRelatedCareer And Career Careers : Career I Most Like For Me Are, Management Accountant And Elementary Teacher981 Words   |  4 PagesCareers After researching different types of careers, and completing do what you are report. Health and Social Care - Unit 7 (P1P2) Principle...

Principal Sociological Perspectives P1 P2 The principal sociological perspectives are Functionalism, Marxism, Feminism, Interactionism, collectivism, postmodernism, ‘New Right’. Functionalist Approach Functionalism is a sociological approach that sees the institutions of society – which are sometimes likened to the human body, as the institutions, such as the police, hospitals, etc, work in union and they make specific contributions to the smooth running of society. Talcott Parsons (1902 – 1979) Parsons contributed to the development of functionalism, as he saw society as a system made up of linking establishments which played a role in the smooth running and continuity. He also said that the main role of an institution was for†¦show more content†¦Through socialisation, the attitudes and values of the ruling class are eventually passed on, rather than the common value system of the Proletariat. This is so much of a success because the majority of the Proletariat do not realise that the bourgeoisie are exploiting them or that they inevitably serve the needs of the bourgeoisie. False Consciousness A false consciousness is that the proletariat do not realise that it is happening and they are not aware of the situations in which they are being exploited in, this can explain why conflicting interests rarely end in a revolution. Similarly to the Functionalist, Marxists see the family as a provider and that they give a stable structure in which society needs them to become somewhat of a servant of the social system. The Family Contextually, the family provides socialisation for children, so they can eventually be prepared for the trials and tribulations of the ‘outside world’. And because children have a lack of power within the family unit, it prepares them to be obedient when consulting with bosses, or those of a higher position, as adults. Pleasantville And A Clockwork Orange Essay - 1335 Words

Pleasantville and A Clockwork orange are both films that have certain things that are abnormal. Pertaining to Pleasantville it begins in black and white and end to be in color because of being exposed of certain things. In a Clockwork Orange that is exposed with violence robbery is highly unusual because it is not something morally right to do. While analyzing both of these movies they both have certain distortions that can be covered that make their own individually, out of ordinary, a tad shocking and unsatisfactory, and more to meet the eye. In Pleasantville, disorder starts to happen slowly as the movie proceeds. While David and Jennifer fight over the remote, there seems to be some strange guy at the door. This TV guy suddenly gives them a remote and they are magically in the world of Pleasantville. Pleasantville is a world that would be described as happy, and perfect, with perfect parents, school, a perfect town, and also with perfect children. The symbolism here is that every thing is in black and white for a reason. The people of Pleasantville are very unaware of everything else, all they know is about Pleasantville, there are no books, and not even sex, and even the main streets have no limits. Even Mary Sue, who is Jennifer, asked her teacher Miss Peters, â€Å"What’s outside of Pleasantville? (Pleasantville Imbd)† and Miss Peters response was â€Å"The end of main street is just the beginning again). It seems that Pleasantville only exists to the people of the town.

Case Study Hy Dairies, Ltd. 1. What symptoms exist to suggest that something has gone wrong? The sales volume and market share of Hy Dairies’ gourmet ice cream brand had picked up significantly over the past two quarters compared with the previous year. As the vice president of marketing at Hy Dairies, Syd Gilman credited this achievement to Rochelle Beauport, the assistant brand manager at the time, and decided to reward her with a newly vacated post of marketing research coordinator. Based on his own career experience, Gilman was very much convinced that the marketing research coordinator job would provide Beauport with greater career potential with Hy Dairies. In this case both Gilman and Beauport ma de similar mistakes by narrowly categorizing, homogenizing, and perceiving others into a certain group which is either similar or opposite to their own social identity. Besides the above mentioned social identity and stereotyping problem, we may also see some other perceptual errors given in the case, such as false-consensus effect. It is the tendency for people to project their way of thinking onto other people, or assume that everyone else thinks the same way they do. Gilman apparently overestimated the extent to which Beauport had beliefs and characteristics similar to his own. 3. What actions should the organization take to correct these problems? Although we can’t bypass the perceptual process, but we should make every attempt and find ways to minimize perceptual biases and distortions. This case suggests that education and awareness about how stereotyping works as well as meaningful interaction can effectively decrease the negative impact of perceptual errors. Essay about Influencing Others In Business Environments

Influencing Others in Business Environments Throughout human civilization, the art of selling ideas or products has been a cornerstone of society. Some people have become masters at this art, yielding themselves and their companies large amounts of profit. Why is it that some people are better at this than others? This paper will take a look at the various aspects of nonverbal communication in selling (or influencing others to buy) and in job interviews by examining in detail the various aspects of proximics, haptics, physical attractiveness, and other nonverbal cues that influence people to say yes. Artifacts and local environment nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Several studies have presented evidence in support of the theory that†¦show more content†¦Voice and Tone nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Voices have a significant persuasive affect. A study by Mehrabian and Williams (1969) suggested that there are four nonverbal cues of voice that have a persuasive effect. These are: having a louder amplitude, having a greater intonation, having greater fluency in speech, and having a faster tempo during speaking. Another study showed that when one has a louder and more fluent voice they were more likely to get a favorable decision on a job interview or in a legal battle (Hollandsworth et al., 1979). Faster tempos have a more persuasive affect by exhibiting expertise and competence (Buller, 1986). But, there is a limit. Speaking tempos greater than 375 syllables per minute decrease their persuasive affect with faster tempos exhibiting greater and greater levels of loss of persuasiveness. Physical Appearance nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Phsyical apperance has several manners in which it can help or hinder the outcome of a negotiation. Raw physical attractiveness, ones innate or genetic attractiveness, has been shown to dramatically affect the attentiveness of an audience. Communication and Positive Working Relationship-Free-Samples

Question: Discuss about the Communication and Positive Working Relationship. Answer: Evaluation of advantages and disadvantages of Synchronous and Asynchronous communication The company has proposed some innovative changes for their marketing enhancement. They have good opportunities in building their marketing teams by the effective implementation of the virtual meeting. The marketing director of the company wants to present an idea to all the employees and team members thus a communicating of the interacting process is needed for that reason. Synchronous transmission of communication is a live interaction where the communication process is taken place at a same time or space. The interaction process has taken place in a defined room and all the members are delivering their views (Jalalkamali et al. 2016). This is the formation of the synchronous communication process and instant answers, views, and expressions are there to know the state of the meeting and to consider the right path of the meeting. There are several advantages in this kind of communication process. This is very easy to organize and the outcome of the meeting has come to up an immediate effect (Dutton and Ragins 2017). The responses are immediate and vocal, which is important to understand the inner feeling of the speaker. In that case, if any adverse situation has come, that can be controlled in the meeting and a suitable action has taken at last for the fulfillment of that meeting. The reports are real time so there are some argumentations in that situation and that enhances the opportunities for better results. There are some other disadvantages also persisted in that communication process. The first disadvantage is the revealing factor of argumentation where most of the people are not willing to do confront in the face so this is a problem for the employees. The service is up and ready without proper resources. There is a need for a connection-oriented protocol for the formation of this communication process . Asynchronous transmission of communication is a kind of process where the individual point of view of a person waits for the approval of another person; this is not live where instant results can be drawn (Block 2016). This is an interrupt process where the sender of a particular idea has to wait till the receiver has received the message and deliver a suitable response to the message. Email is this kind of communication process where one has to wait for another person's response. There are some advantages of this communication process. The server request can be sent from any server. There are no specific servers allocated for this kind of the communication process. There are numerous resources and there is no blocking in that case (Dutton and Ragins 2017). The communication can be implemented through the connectionless protocol and this is a big advantage in this communication process (Kramer 2014). There are certain disadvantages also like the unpredictable response time, the time is actually not known by the sender so this is a big problem for the urgent situation. This is also more complex situation and the entire communication mostly depended on the connection-oriented protocol. Recommendation of those communication tools and the development of working condition In case of the synchronous tools conferencing system is the major tool where the communication process can take place. Video or web conferencing is another process that can be implemented in that situation. Software, hardware, and bandwidth all these are an essential tool for this communication process (Derks et al. 2015). Sometimes verbal interaction is enough for the development of the working condition. The working condition can be developed by the effective use of the virtual discussion and the development of marketing structure framework. As the immediate feedback can get in this communication process so the increased level of engagement is there in this communication process. There is less documentation happened in this communication process as verbal interaction is the key issue in this prospect, however, a minimum documentation is needed in that communication process for the further verifications. On the other hand, the Asynchronous communication system can be accessed by any internal portals. That may be any social network sites, emails, blogs, and the different boards as all these are tools for the communication process (Dutton and Ragins 2017). As the process does not deliver in an immediate way thus the formation of technology is a bit faster where an indicator will be there to notify the person about the important message (Koprowska 2014). This is a kind of recommendation that can be implemented in that communication process for the better results. References Block, P., 2016.The empowered manager: Positive political skills at work.
